Container Management Fee for Discharge (CMD)

 

Dear Valued Customer,

As an update to our March 24, 2025 advisorywe have added an additional exception in bold below which will be effective immediately.

Effective May 1st 2025, ONE will be instituting a Container Management Fee for Discharge (CMD) of USD 15 per container on all bills of lading at destination. This fee will cover the cost for structural container damage USD 500 or less per container.  Above this threshold, the balance of structural damage cost over USD 500 will still remain subject to current billing procedures. The surcharge will apply only to containers that are owned or leased by the Carrier, having in-gated at origin on or after the effective date, and for all cargo to Canada and the US, for all trades.

Coverage

This fee covers: Structural damage costs to the container of USD 500 or less.

If the damage costs are more than USD 500: A separate bill will be sent for the extra cost.

(*) Not applicable for Shipper Owned Containers (SOC).

Exceptions

ONE reserves the right to bill separate charges for remedies not covered by the Container Management Fee for Discharge (CMD), which include:

  • Placarding/placarding removal
  • Dunnage, trash removal
  • Chemicals requiring specialized cleaning
  • Genset damage, reefer mechanical damage
  • Total loss, constructive total loss, or missing/lost/stolen containers
    • The CMD fee covers container repair only, and the coverage of up to USD 500 cannot be applied to total loss
