Export Back Out (EBO) Tariff Update
Dear Valued ONE Customers,
Please be advised that, effective September 15, 2025* Ocean Network Express will assess export back out (EBO) line demurrage in North America.
1. Containers Moved Off-Dock at Origin based on Merchant Request (Export Backout)
Subject to Carrier review and agreement, if a Merchant requests a container to be moved off-dock at origin (Export Backout), and the container is outgated from the terminal, the following shall be applicable:
- Demurrage charges will be assessed on a calendar day basis for the time between the container ingate and outgate from the terminal. No free time period for demurrage will apply.
- If the container is ingated for the subsequent vessel, the demurrage free time will apply based on the date of the latest interchange. Free time calculation and charges are as outlined in the subsequent tariff rules or as stipulated in the service contract.
2. Containers Moved Off-Dock at Origin based on Carrier Requirement (Export Backout)
If a Carrier requires a container to be moved off-dock at origin (Export Backout), and the container is outgated from the terminal, the following shall be applicable:
- Demurrage charges will be assessed on a calendar day basis for the time between the container ingate and outgate from the terminal. No free time period for demurrage will apply, subject to carrier review.
- If the container is ingated for the subsequent vessel, the free demurrage time will apply based on the date of latest interchange. Free time calculation and charges are outlined in the subsequent tariff rules or as stipulated in the Service Contract.
*The effective date applies to cargo received at origin on September 15, 2025, or later.
**For California only, Export Back Out (EBO) demurrage charges will not be assessed during terminal closure days. (1&2)
