Vancouver VGM Procedures
Global Container Terminal Announcement
Dear Valued Customers,
Please be advised, under the regulations set in April 2016 by International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, “SOLAS”, all export containers require the declaration of a container’s verified gross mass “VGM) prior to loading on vessels.
Global Container Terminal (GCT) in Vancouver has often received export containers without a declared VGM at time of ingate, on the condition that VGMs will be provided to GCT by vessel’s cut off time. This requirement enables sufficient time for yard preparations and marine planning. Please be reminded that all VGMs are required by vessel cut off in order to avoid impacts to terminal operations.
Effective immediately, GCT has implemented the following policy for all export containers with undeclared containers following vessel cut:
- Based on the operating plan, GCT will make best efforts to maintain non-declared VGM bookings on the vessel until VGM is received in advance of container loading. (2 x rehandles will apply), or
- Cut and roll to the next vessel – re-handles and export demurrage will apply.
Any charges from GCT due to VGM not declared by vessel cut will be for the account of the shipper.
We appreciate your business and thank you for choosing ONE!
Sincerely,
Ocean Network Express (North America) Inc.
